## A Friday night call
Around 10:30 p.m., Kamala Harris' private security detail phoned in a suspicious person at her Malibu home. Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies drove out.
## No arrest, no incident
Deputies made contact with the person and told them to leave. They walked off voluntarily, and the department took a trespassing report.

> The person left voluntarily without incident.
## Nobody was home
Harris and her husband Doug Emhoff were away, her spokesperson Eduardo Negron said. The couple thanked the responders.

> They are grateful to the security and law enforcement personnel who responded swiftly.
## Stopped before the house
Negron said the person illegally entered the property and was intercepted by security before reaching the home itself.

> illegally entered
## Extra patrols now
Deputies from the local station said they would increase patrols around the neighborhood as a precaution.
## Her federal detail is gone
Former VPs normally get six months of government protection. Biden extended Harris' coverage; Trump revoked that extension last August, so private security is what's left.
## Key takeaway

Harris' private security handled the intrusion because her federal detail was revoked last August, leaving a hired team as the first line.
