## Trey Kaufman-Renn commits to Kansas
Trey Kaufman-Renn committed to Kansas this week after receiving a court injunction that deemed him eligible to play college basketball for the time being.
## KU starting five reshaped
KU's starting five now includes Melvin Council Jr., Tre White, Tyran Stokes, Keanu Dawes and Trey Kaufman-Renn.
## KU roster adjustments needed
Assuming Kaufman-Renn stays for the season, another expected starter must move out of the opening group to make room for him.
## Early season flexibility
The coaching staff can try multiple combinations early in the season to determine what works and what doesn't.
## KU's unusual offseason
KU brought back Tre White and Melvin Council Jr. in addition to acquiring Kaufman-Renn within four weeks.
## KU's first exhibition
In KU's first exhibition, White and Council came off the bench since they had just rejoined the team.
## KU's size advantage
Kaufman-Renn (6-foot-9, 240 pounds) and Keanu Dawes (6-foot-9, 225 pounds) provide rebounding and length for Self to use against traditional big men.
## Spacing concerns
Self wants four perimeter players together, but Council's 29.1% lifetime percentage from beyond the arc doesn't inspire confidence in the offense.
## KU's rotation strategy
Self has an entire five-man group he can stagger into the rotation to spell starters and give the Jayhawks different looks.
## Midseason adjustments
It's likely two or three players won't be in the first unit when the regular season kicks off on Nov. 2 against Fordham.
## Key takeaway

Trey Kaufman-Renn's commitment to Kansas creates a new starting five with Melvin Council Jr., Tre White, Keanu Dawes and himself, though adjustments may be needed by midseason.
