## Board of Peace announces recovery plan
US President Donald Trump's Board of Peace announced a two point four five billion dollar Gaza recovery plan at a UN General Assembly meeting. The funding covers 66 programmes over six months for housing, diesel generation and waste removal.
## Billions pledged but little delivered
The board admitted substantial donations were still needed. Eighteen billion dollars have been pledged but only 280 million dollars handed over so far. Full recovery will require about 71 billion dollars over the next decade.
## No date set for reconstruction start
The board did not set out a date for reconstruction to begin in Gaza, where Trump's plan to end the war has largely stalled almost a year after Israel and Hamas agreed a ceasefire.
## Disarmament remains key stalemate
Hamas agreed to give up its weapons in exchange for a phased Israeli troop withdrawal from the 60 percent of Gaza currently occupied. But Israel insisted it must fully disarm before any pullout, creating a deadlock.
## Violence continues amid deadlock
Violence has continued in Gaza with near-daily Israeli strikes. Living conditions for the two point one million people living there remain dire, with more than 1.9 million displaced and 1.2 million in tents or makeshift shelters.
## Kushner concedes plan faces delays
Jared Kushner, a Gaza Executive Board member and Trump's son-in-law, conceded that the Gaza Recovery Programme faced different delays. He said the goal was to show the board was fully committed to the recovery effort.

> The goal of today was really just to show you that we're really fully committed to doing it.
## Envoy claims progress despite imperfect ceasefire
US envoy Steve Witkoff said real progress had been made over the past year. All hostages are home and a ceasefire exists, though imperfect. Humanitarian efforts have achieved historic results with billions donated and pledged.

> All of the hostages are home. There is a ceasefire, imperfect as it may be, but it still exists.
## Reconstruction faces major obstacles
Michael Eisenberg, an Israeli-American Board of Peace member, said reconstruction requires removing unexploded ordnance and destroying hundreds of kilometres of tunnels underneath Gaza before Gazans can rebuild housing and sanitation.
## Eighty percent of structures destroyed
Reconstruction has yet to begin in Gaza, where an estimated 80 percent of all structures have been destroyed or damaged during the war, leaving more than 60 million tonnes of rubble piled up across the territory.
## Key takeaway

Trump's Board of Peace announced a two point four five billion dollar Gaza recovery plan spread across 66 programmes, but acknowledged that full reconstruction will require about 71 billion dollars over the next decade.
