## Fifth title in a row
Breanna Stewart and the U.S. beat France 97-79 in Berlin for a fifth consecutive women's FIBA World Cup crown.
## A streak 20 years deep
That is 36 straight World Cup wins, back to a 2006 semifinal loss to Russia. The U.S. is now 9-0 in gold-medal games since 1983.
## Down 14 early
France scored the first 11 points of the second quarter to lead 31-17. The U.S. clawed back to 45-43 at the break on Caitlin Clark's buzzer-beating 3.
## The third quarter flip
An 11-2 opening run put the U.S. up 54-47, with four points from Stewart. A later 16-3 spurt, helped by two French unsportsmanlike fouls, made it 73-57.
## Veterans carried the newcomers
This was the second-youngest U.S. World Cup roster, with Clark, Angel Reese and Paige Bueckers all debuting. Tournament MVP Stewart had 22 points, Jackie Young 18.
## France's best ever finish
Dominique Malonga scored 21 and Gabby Williams 20 for a team still sore from its one-point loss to the U.S. in the 2024 Paris final. Spain beat Germany for bronze.
## Key takeaway

The young names filled the roster, but Stewart and the veterans won the gold medal game.
