## Warner Music settles Suno lawsuit
In November 2025, Warner Music ended 17 months of litigation with AI music startup Suno by converting it into a licensing partnership. The deal lets Suno train AI models on Warner's catalog while artists can opt in to have their voices used.
## Multiple revenue streams from AI deal
The Suno partnership creates three revenue paths: licensing fees for catalog training, revenue-sharing from Suno's paid tiers, and direct artist compensation. Warner also acquired Songkick, a concert-discovery platform, as part of the agreement.
## Q3 revenue hits 1.86 billion
Warner Music reported Q3 fiscal 2026 revenue of 1.864 billion, up 10% year-over-year. Digital revenue now makes up 67% of total revenue and grew 11%, driven by streaming gains.
## Streaming revenue accelerates to 12%
Recorded music streaming revenue grew 12% to 1.001 billion in Q3, with both subscription and ad-supported streaming expanding. Warner attributed gains to improved deals with streaming platforms and market share strength.
## Operating income surges 80%
Operating income jumped 80% to 305 million in Q3, far outpacing the 10% revenue growth. This shows Warner is extracting more profit from each dollar of sales through cost discipline and higher-margin digital revenue.
## Profit margins expand 110 basis points
Adjusted operating income before depreciation and amortization margin expanded to 23.2% from 22.1%, a 110 basis point improvement. Warner is on track to hit the high end of its full-year margin expansion target of 150 to 200 basis points.
## Cash flow surges 209%
Operating cash flow reached 142 million in Q3, up 209% from the prior year. Warner is targeting 50 to 60% operating cash flow conversion for the full year, which would generate 1 to 1.2 billion annually.
## Debt position remains manageable
Warner holds 618 million in cash against 4.71 billion in total debt. The company increased cash by 100 million year-over-year and has capacity to service debt while funding a 650 million catalog acquisition joint venture with Bain Capital.
## Suno revenue timing remains unclear
Warner has not yet broken out Suno's contribution separately in financial statements. The Q4 earnings call will be the first opportunity for management to quantify revenue ramp, royalty structure, and artist opt-in rates from the AI partnership.
## Watch for streaming deal sustainability
Streaming growth depends on continued favorable renegotiations with digital service platforms. Investors should monitor whether improved DSP terms hold and track per-subscriber economics in future quarterly updates.
## Key takeaway

Warner Music converted a lawsuit into a licensing partnership with Suno that could create a new revenue stream, while the company's core business accelerates with 80% operating income growth in Q3.
