## AI driving should be mandatory
Wayve chief executive Alex Kendall said AI driving systems should become required in all vehicles, just like seatbelts and emergency braking systems.

> I think over time we're going to see this kind of technology be required in vehicles like a seatbelt, like an emergency braking system.
## Why AI driving matters now
Kendall said the technology is affordable enough for mass-market cars and that what happens on roads today is unacceptable. He called it morally wrong not to have intelligence in vehicles to save lives.

> So it's really morally wrong to not have some system, some intelligence in the vehicle to save those lives.
## Stellantis and Wayve's partnership
Stellantis and Wayve announced their partnership in May.Stellantis is putting the Wayve AI Driver into its STLA AutoDrive platform for hands-free, supervised driving. The first launch is targeted for two thousand twenty-eight in North America.
## Each brand will drive differently
Stellantis chief executive Antonio Filosa said each brand will drive differently.AI will make each vehicle a self-learning machine.A Jeep will learn differently from a Peugeot or a Maserati, though both are built for safety first.
## Supervised driving as a stepping stone
Kendall sees supervised driving as a stepping stone to eyes-off and driverless cars.Starting supervised introduces customers to the technology and builds data needed to improve it.
## Key takeaway

Wayve chief executive Alex Kendall says AI driving systems should become mandatory in all vehicles like seatbelts, with Stellantis planning to launch supervised driving in 2028.
