## Historic first for Western Europe
German launch provider Isar Aerospace successfully launched its Spectrum rocket from Andøya Space Center in northern Norway, reaching orbit in just over seven minutes.

> This is right now making history — making history for Spectrum, making history for Isar, making history for Europe.
## A triumphant second attempt
The 95-foot-tall rocket previously failed during its debut flight in March 2025 when a valve error led to loss of attitude control less than a minute after liftoff.
## Navigating months of setbacks
Before reaching the pad, the team overcame technical delays, pressurization valve issues, composite vessel leaks, fluid system anomalies, bad weather, and an intruding boat.

> We had some setbacks, but we came back stronger from them.
## Carrying real payloads to orbit
Unlike its payload-free test flight, this mission carried five small cubesats and a scientific experiment into an elliptical orbit around Earth.
## Scaling up satellite delivery
Spectrum can haul up to 2,200 pounds to low Earth orbit. Isar plans to manufacture over 30 rockets annually near Munich to become a major commercial launcher.

> Flight 2 is a big, big milestone, big success. But this is just the beginning.
## Redefining European space access
While Russia has launched orbital missions from Plesetsk Cosmodrome for decades, this marks the first time an orbital rocket has flown from Western Europe.
## Key takeaway

Isar Aerospace proved Western Europe can achieve orbital spaceflight locally, opening the door for commercial satellite launches from European soil.
