In brief
An executive tells court he was groped at a Sydney event but stayed silent to avoid causing a scene. A fourth alleged victim testified that Alan Jones groped him at a Sydney event years ago, saying he stayed silent because he felt powerless and didn't want to cause a scene. Originally reported by the Guardian.
Former broadcaster faces 21 charges

Alan Jones, eighty-five, has pleaded not guilty to nineteen counts of indecent assault and two counts of sexual touching without consent. One charge was withdrawn on Monday.
Executive describes alleged groping
A fourth alleged victim testified on Tuesday that Jones touched his back, moved down his spine, and rested his hand on the executive's bottom at a Sydney event several years ago.
Witness stayed silent to avoid scene
The executive said he didn't react or tell Jones to stop because he didn't want to cause a scene. He told Downing Centre local court he felt powerless in the situation.
“I didn't want to cause a scene … I thought that could potentially ruin the night.”
Witness understood women's experience

After the event, the executive told his boss and a colleague what happened. He said the incident was the first time he understood what women have been going through for years.
“I said I felt disgusting and powerless and it's really the first time I have understood what women have been going through for all these years.”
Journalist article prompted complaint
Years later, a colleague sent the executive a link to a two thousand twenty-three Sydney Morning Herald article about allegations against Jones. He then contacted journalist Kate McClymont to recount his experience.
Witness made police statement
After speaking to McClymont, the executive made a statement to police. He is the fourth of five complainants to testify against Jones and has elected to face the broadcaster in person.
