One Nation will relocate its national headquarters to a three-storey office in Spring Hill, Brisbane, owned by Gina Rinehart's property investment company Hanrine. The party will move from its current Brisbane airport office once a re-fit is complete.

Joyce defends commercial rates claim

Barnaby Joyce told News24 that One Nation will pay market rate to Rinehart's company for the space, with no special treatment. He said the party pays for office space from its own wallet, not the taxpayers' ticket.

“I don't live in her pocket. It's her building, it's her lease. We're leasing it off her at commercial rates.”

Building valued at about eight million

The office is believed to be valued at about eight million dollars, according to The Australian. Property data shows it was last sold for two point four million dollars in two thousand and three.

Hancock Prospecting denies discounts

A spokesperson for Rinehart's Hancock Prospecting said the company holds commercial property and is not providing free or discounted space to any outside tenant, political or otherwise.

“Hancock Prospecting holds a range of commercial property, and this building is one of them. Hancock is not providing free or discounted space to any outside tenant, political or otherwise.”

Hanson and Joyce stayed at Rinehart mansion

Guardian Australia revealed that Hanson and Joyce stayed overnight at Rinehart's twenty million dollar Brisbane mansion in April after fundraising events for One Nation. Joyce conducted a live television interview with Channel Seven's Sunrise from what appears to be a bedroom in Rinehart's home.

Undeclared flights and gifts to Hanson

One Nation failed to declare multiple flights gifted by Hancock Prospecting to Hanson going back to August last year, including flights to a Conservative Political Action Conference in Florida and Donald Trump's Great Gatsby-themed Halloween party at Mar-a-Lago. In April, Rinehart gifted Hanson a private plane worth more than one point five million dollars.

Hanson has said she considers Rinehart an unofficial policy adviser to her and One Nation. She told ABC radio in Perth in June that Rinehart inspired her policy on pensioners being able to work unlimited hours without losing their pension or healthcare card.

“My policy on pensioners being able to work unlimited hours and without losing their pension or healthcare card came from Mrs Rinehart.”

Hanson uses Rinehart's bodyguard

Hanson has been using one of Rinehart's bodyguards for her personal security. The man, who has been seen escorting Hanson in Perth and Canberra, has been one of Rinehart's closest bodyguards for more than a decade.

The bottom line

One Nation will move its headquarters to a Brisbane office building bought by mining billionaire Gina Rinehart, with Barnaby Joyce saying the party will pay commercial rates.
