Camm steps down from cabinet

Queensland minister Amanda Camm, responsible for families, child protection and family violence, has resigned from the Crisafulli frontbench on Friday.
Months of pressure over child safety
Camm faced sustained criticism over the government's handling of the child safety system and efforts to prevent domestic and family violence. Children in state care were reported sleeping on office floors.
Health concerns and harassment cited
Camm said she had experienced harassment, threats, bullying and vilification over the past year. She recently took six weeks of medical leave including surgery and said her recovery would be ongoing.
“It would be unfair to the government for me to take further leave.”
Camm cites Helen Haines attack

Camm cited the recent alleged attack on federal MP Helen Haines as reinforcing the importance of taking concerns about personal health and safety of people in public life seriously.
“Harassment, threats, bullying and personal vilification are not. And for the past year this has been my experience.”
Crisafulli backs Camm, replacement coming
Premier David Crisafulli said he wanted to support Amanda and she had not been removed over performance. A replacement is expected to be announced later Friday, with Amanda Stoker among those considered.
