In brief
A short hit-list of where Dublin turns on the lights, the skates and the fairy-lit pubs in December. Dublin's December runs on a handful of set pieces: Wild Lights, Grafton Street, Merrion Square, Dundrum on Ice and a warm pub at the end of it. Originally reported by Marlin.
Dublin switches moods

Come December the cobbles go fairy-lit, the markets smell of cinnamon, and the pubs turn into hideouts from the cold. The city does Christmas properly.
“Twinkling lights drape the cobbled streets”
Wild Lights after dark

Dublin Zoo reopens at night as a trail of giant glowing sculptures. Walk the route, get the photo, hold a hot chocolate. Families and couples both.
Grafton Street, lit up

The shopping strip shimmers, buskers work carols into the crowd noise, and every window competes for most festive. Good for handmade gifts.
Make your own wreath

The National Museum on Kildare Street runs a hands-on wreath workshop on two evenings only, 4 and 10 December. You leave with one for your door.
Lights at Merrion Square

Dublin City Council's Winter Lights fills the park with walk-through installations, projections and interactive bits. Runs all through December.
Skate, then warm up

Dundrum on Ice is an open-air rink inside a shopping and dining spot, so dinner is a few steps away. Finish the night at The Ginger Man near Trinity.
