Fall's biggest bourbon drop

Fall's biggest bourbon drop

Old Rip Van Winkle and Buffalo Trace just revealed the 2026 Van Winkle Collection: six ultra-rare expressions aged 10 to 23 years. For collectors, this announcement starts the season.

The entry points

The entry points

Old Rip Van Winkle 10-Year runs $169.99, a wheat-forward pour of toasted pecan and ripe cherry. The Special Reserve 12-Year is $199.99, with dried mango, spiced peach, and cocoa.

“vibrant, wheat-forward bourbon bursting with toasted pecan, ripe cherry, and seasoned oak”

The Family Reserve crown

The 15-Year ($299.99) balances caramel corn against leather and oak tannins. The 20-Year ($399.99) adds citrus zest, sherry, and vanilla. The 23-Year ($499.99) is the rarest of the lot.

“dark chocolate, ripe apple, and deeply aged oak”

Rye rounds it out

The Van Winkle Family Reserve Rye 13-Year closes the drop at $299.99, a softly spiced bottle carrying chestnut, white pepper, and dry oak.

No two years match

The lineup looks the same on paper, but every barrel ages differently. Master Distiller Harlen Wheatley and the Van Winkle family hand-pick only the casks that clear their bar.

“There are no shortcuts when you're talking about whiskey that has spent this many years aging.”

Buy licensed or get burned

Distribution runs through Sazerac to select retailers, bars, and restaurants. With secondary prices soaring, Van Winkle is warning buyers away from online sellers pushing counterfeits.

In short

Buy only from licensed retailers. The secondary market for Pappy is a scam magnet.
