Audiophile.fm has launched apps for iOS and Android in addition to its existing web version. The free service streams radio stations in CD quality or higher with no ads and no subscription required.

Why the app was created

Creator Bojan Vidanovic explained on r/BudgetAudiophile that he wanted an easier way to find and listen to lossless radio stations. The app brings together handpicked stations streaming in FLAC from CD-quality to hi-res options.

“I wanted an easier way to find and listen to lossless radio stations.”

Music genres covered

Audiophile.fm offers handpicked stations across jazz, classical, rock, electronic and more. All stations broadcast in FLAC at CD quality or better, ensuring consistently excellent sound quality.

Discovery without algorithms

Discovery without algorithms

The app offers serendipitous listening without algorithmic recommendations. Users can discover truly random music rather than endless variations of songs they already like.

How the service stays free

The app itself is ad-free, but some stations play ads to pay their bills. Stations have the necessary permissions and licenses to ensure artists get paid.

Features still in development

Equalization, Google Cast and AirPlay are on the to-do list. Bojan Vidanovic is actively seeking feedback on Reddit and plans to keep the core app free while monetizing with paid features.

Alternative to major services

For audiophiles frustrated with discovery options on Spotify and similar services, Audiophile.fm offers a wide mix of music in quality that showcases high-end headphones and headphone DACs.

The takeaway

Audiophile.fm, a free ad-free streaming app for hi-res radio stations, has launched on iOS and Android after being available on the web.
