CPI(M) seeks anti-BJP alliance
CPI(M) Tripura State Secretary Jitendra Chaudhury said the party wants an electoral understanding with democratic and secular parties to prevent anti-BJP vote splitting.
Congress and CPI(M) failed to agree
The CPI(M) fielded two hundred sixty-three candidates across three hundred forty-five wards. Congress nominated candidates in two hundred twenty-one wards after seat-sharing talks failed.
Elections set for November 27

The civic polls are slated for November twenty-seventh, covering twenty-one civic bodies including the Agartala Municipal Corporation. The nomination deadline ended November sixth.
Chaudhury hopeful of last-minute deal
Chaudhury told reporters the party remained hopeful of seat adjustment with anti-BJP parties. A decision may come within two days, as the withdrawal deadline is November tenth.
“defeating the saffron party is our main political objective”
Left Front alleges obstruction
Left Front convener Manik Dey alleged that party candidates could not file nominations in five civic bodies due to obstruction by ruling party leaders and supporters.
Violence reported during campaigning
Dey claimed five party supporters were injured in an attack by BJP supporters at Dukli in West Tripura district while campaigning for CPI(M) candidate Swapna Nath.
