Jagan questions cyclone damage assessment
Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, YSRCP president and former Chief Minister, accused the NDA government of neglecting cyclone-affected farmers and understating crop losses.
CCTV cameras cannot assess crop damage
Addressing party leaders through video conference from Tadepalli on Thursday, Jagan questioned Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu's reliance on Real Time Governance Society reviews.
“How can crop damage be assessed through CCTV camera footage?”
Twelve lakh acres severely damaged
Jagan said preliminary information indicated severe damage to nearly twelve lakh acres, particularly in Konaseema, East Godavari, West Godavari and Anakapalli districts.
Farmers face massive financial losses
Paddy, coconut, banana crops and aquaculture farms suffered losses. Farmers could lose around forty thousand rupees an acre in paddy, two lakh in banana and forty five lakh in aquaculture.
Previous cyclone relief remains unpaid
Jagan alleged nearly six hundred crore in input subsidy for losses caused by Cyclone Montha last year remained unpaid. He criticised delays in restoring electricity and absence of field-level assessments.
Government promises unfulfilled, prices soaring
Under Annadata Sukhibhava, the government promised sixty thousand rupees over three years but paid only nineteen thousand, leaving forty one thousand outstanding. Rice prices reached eighty to ninety rupees a kilogram.
