CM seeks PM appointment

Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar said on Sunday he had sought an appointment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss sugarcane growers' problems and drought in Karnataka.

Opposition leaders invited to join

Speaking at Mysuru airport, Shivakumar said Opposition leaders had earlier expressed willingness to join an all-party delegation to meet the Prime Minister and he hoped they would stand by their words.

CM appeals to farmers to end protest

Responding to questions on the ongoing sugarcane growers' agitation, Shivakumar appealed to farmers to call off their protest and resolve issues through discussions rather than politicising the matter.

“I have spoken to the farmers and once again appeal to them through the media to withdraw their protest.”

State contribution to support price open to discussion

Asked about demands that the state government contribute financially towards sugarcane support price, Shivakumar said the matter could be discussed, noting different categories of farmers require consideration.

“There are different categories of farmers in the State, and we have to take everyone's interests into consideration.”
