Five million pound gift under scrutiny

Nigel Farage, Reform UK leader, received a five million pound gift from crypto billionaire Christopher Harborne that he did not declare once he became an MP.

Farage's changing explanations

Farage initially claimed the gift was for private security for life, then said it was a reward for campaigning for Brexit for twenty seven years.

Aide suggests voters accept profit

In undercover footage published by The Guardian, Farage's aide Dan Jukes said the gift situation was awkward but suggested voters did not mind if Farage makes money from politics.

“Well it's a bit priced in with our Nige, isn't it, no one's voting for him to be the pope.”

Harborne part of larger donation pattern

Christopher Harborne is one of two crypto billionaires who donated seventy two million pounds to Reform UK. Ben Delo and Harborne each gave thirty six million pounds.

Farage under investigation for declaration

Farage has been interviewed by the standards commissioner over whether he should have declared the gift. Under Commons rules, new MPs must register gifts over three hundred pounds from the previous twelve months.
