Undercover footage captures extreme comments
An ITV investigation recorded a Reform UK activist and aspiring MP saying asylum seekers should be put in concentration camps and that Muslims cannot be British. The footage will broadcast on Sunday.
“In the first week of election, build concentration camps, and everyone who comes across on the Channel, you're in there.”
The activist's views on Islam
The same Reform activist described himself as pretty hardline about Islam. He said Muslims cannot be British, comparing it to oil and water, and expressed disagreement with Reform home affairs spokesman Zia Yusuf being Muslim.
“You cannot be a Muslim and British… it's like oil and water.”
Wider pattern of racist remarks
Earlier excerpts from the investigation showed Reform councillors and candidates using racist language. Black children were referred to as animals. One member said his area had become infested with Asian families.
Reform MP criticises party culture
Reform MP Sarah Pochin described the party as chauvinistic, saying they exclude women. The investigation also showed Nigel Farage appearing to let off a mayoral candidate accused of racism against David Lammy.
Labour attacks Farage's leadership
Labour Party chairperson Bridget Phillipson said Nigel Farage is completely unfit to lead and incapable of taking responsibility. She said the racism and misogyny go right to the top of Reform UK.
“Nigel Farage is incapable of taking responsibility and getting his house in order because he himself shares culpability.”
