The Khaite designer reveals her favorite clothes, beauty products, restaurants, and everything in between. Catherine Holstein built Khaite into a luxury powerhouse by staying true to her aesthetic while balancing motherhood, design, and a life filled with intentional choices about what matters most. From indie label to luxury giant
Catherine Holstein's Khaite went from cool sportswear brand to major luxury player in 10 years, boosted by Katie Holmes wearing a Khaite cashmere bra and a reported $150 million investment from Stripes.
Her design formula works

Holstein's collections typically feature sheer organza tops, military jackets, and leather minidresses. She starts her day at 5 a.m. with her three-year-old son and heads to the SoHo office after a Tracy Anderson class.
Vintage Adidas and Alexander Calder
Holstein's most-worn item is a vintage oversize dark red Adidas T-shirt. Her prized possession is a 1981 Alexander Calder exhibition T-shirt from the South of France that she wears as a favorite white shirt.
Beauty routine stays simple
Holstein uses Victoria Beckham contour stick and concealer, Kérastase hair products, and a Dyson dryer. She skips peptides and wellness trends, and wears no perfume.
Home filled with art and design

Her reading chair is a Mario Marenco sofa or Art Deco club chairs in shearling. She owns a Carlo Mollino floor lamp, Byredo Woods candles, and a Marina Abramović drawing she bought after finishing her loft renovation.
New York restaurants and late nights
Holstein and her husband Griffin Frazen frequent I Sodi, Raoul's, and other New York spots for date nights. She orders lemon pappardelle from I Sodi and salads from Via Carota for takeout.
“The first martini sip is always the best sip.”
Inspired by American opportunity
Holstein reads Succession obsessively, listens to Nirvana Unplugged on constant rotation, and visits the Neue Galerie and Noguchi Museum. She's inspired by the idea of opportunity as an American heritage.
In short
Catherine Holstein built Khaite into a luxury powerhouse by staying true to her aesthetic while balancing motherhood, design, and a life filled with intentional choices about what matters most.
