Nothing announced the Headphone (1) Pro on Monday at an evening event in New York City. The headphones refine the design of Nothing's first over-ear model from last summer.

Three drivers replace one

The Headphone (1) Pro uses three drivers per ear instead of a single 40-millimetre dynamic driver. A bass driver handles low end, a precision driver tackles midrange vocals and instruments, and a treble driver handles highs.

Treble driver uses silicon technology

The treble driver uses xMEMS technology with a silicon diaphragm to make transients like cymbal hits or synth stabs sound clearer. The triple-driver setup produces richer, more detailed sound overall.

Glass panels show the tech inside

Nothing added 9H Panda glass panels to the sides so users can see the triple-driver architecture. The glass is shatter and scratch resistant and survived durability tests from drops of more than one metre.

“Even if you crack it, there's a plastic film that keeps the chamber still working.”

Studio features justify the price

The Headphone (1) Pro costs three hundred ninety-nine dollars, one hundred dollars more than the standard model. Nothing collaborated with Metropolis Studio to include a flat EQ mode for mix engineers and a Studio B Dynamic Spatial Audio mode simulating the mixing room.

Ten microphones power noise cancellation

Nothing claims the Headphone (1) Pro has the best active noise cancellation it has ever shipped, using ten microphones to filter out ambient sounds. Apple's AirPods Max use eight microphones by comparison.

Headphones arrive in stores September 29

The Headphone (1) Pro will hit store shelves on September twenty-ninth on Nothing's online store, Amazon, and nationwide in Best Buy stores across North America. They come with a bra-like carry case.
