Learn how to prevent Mistral from using your prompts, uploaded documents, and API data for model training.
In brief
Learn how to prevent Mistral from using your prompts, uploaded documents, and API data for model training. You must disable data training toggles separately for Vibe web, mobile apps, and the Mistral API to fully protect your data. Originally reported by Mistral.
Control your training data
Your prompts, documents, and output data may be included in Mistral's model training. However, you retain full control to opt out at any time.
“🔑 You retain full control over this processing and have the right to opt out of these programs at any time .”
Opting out on Vibe
Standard Vibe users can turn off model training in the Admin panel under Manage > Vibe > Privacy. Enterprise accounts are already opted out by default.
“Vibe (Enterprise): customers are opted out of training by default — the opt-in toggle is managed at the admin level.”
Protect your uploaded files
Any documents attached or uploaded inside Vibe count as input data. Opting out prevents these sensitive files from being used to improve future models.
“📌 Documents attached or uploaded within Vibe are considered as input data .”
Turn off sharing on mobile
To opt out on iOS or Android, go to the app's Settings page, tap Data & Account Controls, and deselect the Enable data sharing option.
Disable API and Studio training
Developers using Mistral Studio or the API can stop data collection by opening the Privacy menu in the Admin panel and turning off Anonymous improvement data.
Manage each service separately
Vibe and API privacy controls operate independently. Disabling training on Vibe will not automatically opt you out of API data collection.
“🔑 Vibe and API opt-out toggles are separate. Opting out of one does not opt you out of the other”
The key point
You must disable data training toggles separately for Vibe web, mobile apps, and the Mistral API to fully protect your data.
