Solana ETFs hold strong through chaos

Solana spot ETFs pulled in $13.2 million during the week ending September 18, marking their 12th consecutive week of inflows despite a failed Senate crypto bill and a Federal Reserve rate hike.
Bitcoin hits record low weekly inflow

Bitcoin spot ETFs netted just $6.2 million in the same week, the smallest weekly inflow in the funds' 141-week history since launching January 11, 2024.
Solana gains while Bitcoin loses big
On September 15, the Senate rejected the CLARITY Act and Bitcoin ETFs lost $450 million. The next day, the Fed raised rates 25 basis points and Bitcoin lost another $296 million. Solana gained on both days.
Bitcoin's week was deceptively active
Bitcoin ETFs swung $1.5 billion gross across the week, with inflows of $752 million and outflows of $746 million, netting just $6.2 million. The Fidelity Bitcoin Fund saw the largest single-day inflow at $310.7 million.
“Funds 40 times larger move in amounts that can erase a week and rebuild it within a few sessions.”
Solana staking changes the game

The Bitwise Solana Staking ETF lets holders earn yield by staking coins, giving investors a reason to hold through bad months. Bitcoin funds hold assets that pay nothing, so flows track sentiment closely.
Staking ETF outpaces Solana itself
The Bitwise Solana Staking ETF was the only Solana fund with disclosed inflows for the week, closing 12.12% higher while Solana itself gained 11.29%.
Bitcoin's scale cuts both ways
Bitcoin funds hold $102.5 billion in assets versus Solana's $1.4 billion. Large allocators trade both directions, meaning a single macro surprise can flip Bitcoin from flat to negative in days.
Solana shows committed buyers

Solana's 12-week inflow streak reflects investors holding through volatility, not traders reacting to news. But $13.2 million weekly inflows can't move a $1.4 billion fund far.
The big picture
Solana's staking yield gives investors a reason to hold through volatility, while Bitcoin's price-only exposure makes flows swing wildly on sentiment.
