Goodwipes spoofs OpenAI's Astra

The flushable wipe brand created Asstra, a minute-long parody of OpenAI's viral Astra ad that shows people using AI tech from the toilet instead of an armchair.

“The future of butt wiping has arrived.”

Built in four days with AI

OK Future, an AI-native creative agency founded by ex-MullenLowe CEO Frank Cartagena, created the glossy spot in just four days using platforms like ArtCraft and Astra itself.

“A few years ago, we'd have spent months selling the idea, finding the money, then shooting it.”

AI had quirky creative challenges

The AI kept adding toilet seat lids and struggled to keep seats up in shots. It also sometimes garbled product copy and added lids to Goodwipes packaging.

“The AI seemed to be obsessed with having the people sit on the toilets with the toilet seats down.”

Perfection took a back seat

Goodwipes' SVP of marketing Meredith Diehn prioritized speed and humor over pixel-perfect execution, accepting the ad at 90 percent polish to match the lighthearted tone.

“It's 90% right, and it fits the funny and lighthearted execution we were going for.”

Goodwipes taps into brand DNA

The brand, founded in 2013 by Sam Nebel and Charlie Siciak, has always used humor to tackle taboos. The Astra parody fits perfectly with its irreverent, community-focused identity.

AI brings lightness to tech anxiety

Cartagena noted that while people fear AI, the campaign uses humor to make the technology feel less threatening and more human, helping Goodwipes stand out on store shelves.

“We can bring a little lightness to it.”

The takeaway

Speed and humor beat perfection when you use AI to capitalize on cultural moments while they're still trending.
