Sorrell backs AI video startup

S4S Ventures, co-founded by Sir Martin Sorrell, invested in Higgsfield, which just closed a $400 million Series B at a $5.4 billion valuation in August.

Higgsfield solves content speed

S4S partner Sanja Partalo said Higgsfield stood out for helping brands produce huge amounts of content quickly and agilely, a key challenge for marketers.

“There's a lot of empathy and knowledge built into what they've created that makes this product particularly suited for an enterprise use case within an agency.”

S4S has multiple AI bets

Beyond Higgsfield, S4S has backed Runway for video generation, Newton Research for marketing analytics, and Olyzon for CTV ad decisions.

Higgsfield already works at scale

The three-year-old startup works with 390 Fortune 500 companies and generates over 70% of revenue from commercial use. It launched Ads Multiplier in August to turn existing creatives into AI variations.

AI slop backlash is real

Brands like Coca-Cola and Baggu faced criticism for AI-generated ads, and audiences are fatigued by low-quality AI content on social media feeds.

Quality improvements will win over audiences

Sorrell believes people will become immune to AI backlash quickly. Higgsfield's latest products generate photorealistic content viewers cannot distinguish from traditional work.

“People will become immune to it pretty quickly.”

The key point

S4S Ventures sees AI video generation as the solution to brands' need for fast, scaled content production, betting that quality improvements will overcome audience skepticism.
