In brief
Fujifilm's new wide-format instant printer fixes its worst annoyance and costs less than the model it replaces. The Link Wide 2 is a cheaper, better-connected version of the same idea: phone photos out as real, oversized instant film. Originally reported by Digital Camera World.
Digital in, real film out

Fujifilm's Instax Link printers take photos off your phone and spit them back out as actual instant film. The new Link Wide 2 does it in the oversized Wide format.
“the photography equivalent of having your cake and eating it too”
USB-C, at last

The original Wide printer launched in 2021 on micro-USB. Generation two finally moves to USB-C, so you can stop hunting for the one cable you never use anymore.
Stands up on its own

The body was redesigned to sit upright without a stand. The front Instax logo now glows to show battery level and connection status, and film still loads by matching yellow mark to yellow mark.
The app does the heavy lifting

Most of what is new lives in the Instax Wide Link app. A Photo Mixer feature builds collages automatically, cutting out subjects and adding themed text and backgrounds, with up to five remixes to pick from.
Hidden links inside prints

You can still build collages by hand from templates, and QR codes let you bury links, audio, or secret messages in a physical print. Stickers and editing tools round it out.
Print without a phone

The Instax Pal 2 and the Fujifilm X-T30 III connect straight to the printer from their own menus. It ships late September at $179.99, below the $235 the first generation was fetching.
The bottom line
The Link Wide 2 is a cheaper, better-connected version of the same idea: phone photos out as real, oversized instant film.
