Gisele Bündchen redefines what winning looks like
At 46, the world's former highest-paid model turns down almost every job, and she can explain exactly why.
In brief
At 46, the world's former highest-paid model turns down almost every job, and she can explain exactly why. Success is a definition you write yourself, and it can change completely between your 20s and your 40s. Originally reported by Maxim.
Still lifting at 46

Gisele Bündchen covers i-D magazine's Mother Issue with a barbell in hand, working through bicep curls and an overhead press in a lacy bodysuit.
The routine is real

Weights three times a week. Pilates once or twice. Yoga two or three times. She trains every single day, and not because a shoot demanded it.
“I do weights three times a week. I do Pilates once or twice a week. I do yoga two or three times a week.”
Get to, not have to
She reframes exercise as something she chooses rather than a chore. Surfing, volleyball with her daughter, paddleboarding, it all counts.
“I don't see it as something I have to do. I see it as something I get to do.”
She says no to 99 percent
Still in demand, most recently as the face of a Marc O'Polo campaign, she screens every offer against what it would cost her at home.
“I say no to 99 percent of the jobs I'm offered.”
The math behind the no
Each job gets weighed against a specific missed moment: her daughter's volleyball game, the park with her son, watching her son DJ.
“Am I going to miss my daughter's volleyball game?”
Success got redefined
Ranked the world's highest-paid model by Forbes for 12 straight years, from 2005 to 2016, she no longer measures it in money or fame.
“When I was in my 20s, success was different than what I feel today.”
What matters most
Success is a definition you write yourself, and it can change completely between your 20s and your 40s.
