Sage green is out, celery is in

In brief
Sherwin-Williams just crowned a yellow-leaning green, and designers are already drenching rooms in it. Celery reads bold at first glance but behaves like a neutral when you pair it with warm wood, linen, and aged brass. Originally reported by domino.
Meet celery

Sherwin-Williams named Celery its 2027 Color of the Year, a yellow-leaning green with the crispness of leaves and the energy of sunshine.
Bolder than it looks

First impression is loud, but Celery plays well with warm woods, creamy neutrals, and even other saturated shades. The result reads layered, not shouty.
Kitchens and bathrooms first

Skateboarder Lizzie Armanto's L.A. kitchen uses it in mod color-blocked cabinets. For something quieter, brush it onto existing wainscoting like a Laurel Canyon bungalow did.
Try an entry or a ceiling

Color manager Ashley Banbury points to breakfast nooks, sunrooms, and bedrooms, then suggests the two spots nobody thinks of.
“An entryway gives the color immediate impact in a relatively contained space”
Pair it warm
Oak and lighter woods bring out its organic side, deeper woods make it feel dressed up. Choose aged brass or bronze over cool metals to pull the yellow forward.
“Linen, woven materials, natural stone, and handmade tile also work beautifully”
Or just dip a toe

A grasscloth coffee table, a ceramic lamp, or celery curtains get you there without a paint can. Banbury also likes it hidden inside a pantry or the back of open shelving.
Here's the gist
Celery reads bold at first glance but behaves like a neutral when you pair it with warm wood, linen, and aged brass.
