Fetterman crashes the GOP convention

Pennsylvania Democratic Senator John Fetterman delivered a surprise 64 second video message at the Republican midterm convention in Dallas. He used the time to introduce his friend, Republican Senator Dave McCormick.

Wearing his signature black hoodie in front of an industrial steel site, Fetterman promised to defend local manufacturing. He pledged to collaborate with Donald Trump to protect steel jobs in Pennsylvania.

“We'll work with President Trump to fight and defend the steel way of life, right here in the Steel Valley.”

Pushing back against his own party

Fetterman explicitly identified as a common sense Democrat while calling out progressive wings of his party. He stated his goal is to reject political extremes and defend American interests.

“Why am I here talking to you today? Because, well, I'm a common sense Democrat.”

Growing alienation from Senate Democrats

Reports highlight Fetterman's deepening rift with his party. Former staffers allege he spends more energy engaging conservative media and advocating for Israel than performing standard Senate duties.

Popular with Republicans, disliked by Democrats
