Privacy Policy
Last updated:
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy describes how Shortify handles information when you use our website, apps, and related features. Shortify is operated by MoonBird Inc., and "we", "us" and "our" in this policy refer to that company. It does not cover the independent practices of publishers or other third-party websites you visit through our links.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide includes your email address for sign-in, profile details such as username, display name and avatar, interests and follows, digest preferences, comments, reactions, submitted URLs, uploaded documents, publisher applications, and messages you send us.
Usage information includes stories viewed, reading progress and time spent, clicks on source articles, searches, reactions, and interactions with features such as narration and sharing. Technical information can include browser and device details, page URLs, IP addresses, cookies, and identifiers used for sessions, analytics, and view counting.
We may determine approximate location, such as city, region, and country, from network headers or an IP-based geolocation service. This is not precise GPS location. Preferences may also include your timezone for personalization and digest scheduling.
3. How we use information
We use information to authenticate accounts, operate and secure the service, generate and display shorts, remember preferences, personalize recommendations, show trending content, measure readership and publisher referrals, provide requested communications, respond to support requests, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations.
4. AI processing and service providers
When content is processed into a short, article text, submitted URLs, uploaded document content, and related prompts may be sent to extraction and AI providers to generate summaries, images, or speech. Do not submit private, confidential, or sensitive information that you do not want processed in this way.
Providers supporting the service include Supabase for accounts, database and storage; Lovable and its AI services for generation; hosting and delivery providers; and extraction, geolocation, and communication services where used. An IP geolocation lookup sends the IP address to the geolocation provider. Providers receive information needed for their functions and handle it under applicable agreements and their own policies.
5. Cookies and analytics
Shortify uses cookies and browser storage for authentication, onboarding, anonymous view counting, and preferences such as audio settings. We use Google Analytics and, when configured, PostHog to understand visits and product interactions. Analytics may include page addresses, searches, interaction events, device information, and browser identifiers.
You can manage or clear cookies and local storage through your browser and use available browser or analytics-provider privacy controls. Blocking storage or scripts may affect sign-in, remembered preferences, or other features. This policy is not a cookie-consent control; any consent required by applicable law must be obtained separately.
6. Public content and other disclosures
Published shorts, source attribution, public profile details associated with contributions, and comments may be visible to other people. Public story pages can be shared and indexed by search engines and AI answer engines. Do not post information you want to keep private. Visiting a publisher's source article sends you to that publisher, whose privacy policy applies.
We may disclose information when required by law, to protect rights and safety, investigate abuse, or support a business transfer subject to applicable privacy requirements. Service providers may process information in countries other than your own, where privacy laws may differ; legally required safeguards apply to such transfers.
7. Retention and security
Information is retained for as long as needed for the purposes described here, including operating your account, maintaining published content, security, resolving disputes, and legal obligations. Retention depends on the type of information and its purpose. Public content copied or cached by others may remain outside our control after removal from Shortify.
We use safeguards intended to protect information, but no internet service, transmission, or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
8. Your choices and privacy requests
You can update available profile and preference settings, manage digest preferences, and use available controls to remove your own reactions or comments. For account deletion or other privacy requests, contact us using the email below. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request; do not send your sign-in code.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information, object to or restrict processing, withdraw consent where processing relies on it, or complain to your local privacy regulator. These rights may have legal exceptions. Contact us to exercise applicable rights or ask about our practices.
9. Children and policy changes
Shortify is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
We may update this policy as features or practices change. The revised date will appear above, and additional notice or consent will be provided where required by law.
