Three firms win TV measurement approval

The U.S. Joint Industry Committee recertified Comscore, iSpot, and VideoAmp as official TV ad currencies for 2026-2028, validating their use in buying and selling broadcast inventory.
What JIC certification means
The JIC evaluates whether measurement providers meet buy- and sell-side requirements to make a currency transactable, ensuring advertisers and networks can trust the data for deals.
Most rigorous evaluation yet
The JIC's latest certification was its most comprehensive to date, including 39 data evaluation questions and 672 tests across more than 680 networks and 150 million telecast observations.
All three passed mid-term audit
Comscore, iSpot, and VideoAmp also passed the JIC's mid-term audit in 2025, demonstrating continued compliance with measurement standards.
iSpot emphasizes accuracy focus
iSpot stated that accuracy for advertising at scale is key to understanding effectiveness, which is what all video transactors ultimately seek.
“the bottom line is that our focus on accuracy for advertising at scale is the key underpinning for understanding effectiveness”
Nielsen stays outside JIC system
Nielsen, a major TV measurement competitor, does not participate in JIC certification, having stated in 2023 that it disagrees with the organization's certification methods.
The headline
The three major TV measurement companies have been officially recertified as trusted metrics for TV ad transactions, validating their accuracy after extensive testing.
